Software Comparison

SAM vs AMOS

Both are EASA-aligned aviation maintenance platforms, but they target very different organisations. Here is how they compare across pricing, deployment, and functionality.

SAM by ASA Software

Developed in Denmark since 1988, SAM is built for small and mid-sized CAMO and Part-145 MRO operations. It runs on a concurrent user pricing model where aircraft count doesn't change the price, and can go live in weeks. Trusted by 60+ operators across Europe, Africa, and Asia.

AMOS by Swiss-AS

AMOS is a Swiss-developed MRO and CAMO platform targeting large airlines and maintenance organisations. It is feature-rich and highly configurable, but comes with enterprise level complexity, pricing, and implementation timelines typically measured in months.

Where SAM has the edge

Pricing model

SAM charges per concurrent user with no per-aircraft fee. AMOS pricing scales with fleet size and user count, making it significantly more expensive for growing operations.

Implementation speed

SAM customers go live in weeks with dedicated onboarding support. AMOS implementations typically take months and require specialist consultants.

Veryon integration

SAM offers a direct, first-party integration with Veryon Technical Publications (formerly ATP Aviation Hub). AMOS support for Veryon requires additional configuration.

Where SAM may not be the right fit

Large-scale airline operations

SAM is built for small and mid-sized operators. If you are managing a large fleet across multiple bases, a platform designed for enterprise-scale throughput will likely serve you better.

Multi-hub MRO networks

SAM works well for single-base and small Part-145 organisations. Complex multi-hub maintenance networks with tight cross-base scheduling requirements may outgrow what SAM offers today.

Enterprise ERP integration

SAM focuses on the maintenance and airworthiness side of operations. If your organisation needs native integration with SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems, you will need to look elsewhere or build a custom bridge.

No 24/7 technical support

SAM support operates during business hours. If your operation requires around-the-clock technical assistance (for example, if you run shifts across multiple time zones), a platform with a global support organisation may be a better fit.
