Software Comparison

SAM vs OASES

Both platforms serve EASA-regulated aviation organisations, but SAM covers a broader operational scope. Here is how they compare across CAMO, MRO, deployment, and pricing.

SAM by ASA Software

Developed in Denmark since 1988, SAM is an integrated CAMO and Part-145 MRO platform built for small and mid-sized operators. It runs on a concurrent user pricing model where aircraft count doesn't change the price, with implementations typically completed in weeks. Used by 60+ operators across Europe, Africa, and Asia.

OASES by Commsoft

OASES is a UK-developed aviation management suite focused primarily on CAMO and airworthiness management. It serves mid-market operators and airlines, with modules covering maintenance control and planning. MRO and Part-145 functionality is more limited compared to dedicated MRO platforms.

Where SAM has the edge

Integrated MRO

SAM covers both CAMO and full Part-145 MRO in a single platform. OASES is primarily CAMO-focused, so MRO and workshop management require additional modules or separate tooling.

Helicopter & rotorcraft

SAM includes dedicated rotorcraft logic including penalty factor and mission wear tracking. OASES support for helicopter-specific airworthiness workflows is limited.

Veryon integration

SAM offers a direct, first-party integration with Veryon Technical Publications. OASES does not natively support the Veryon (ATP) interface, requiring manual document management.

Where SAM may not be the right fit

Large-scale airline operations

SAM is built for small and mid-sized operators. If you are managing a large fleet across multiple bases, a platform designed for enterprise-scale throughput will likely serve you better.

Multi-hub MRO networks

SAM works well for single-base and small Part-145 organisations. Complex multi-hub maintenance networks with tight cross-base scheduling requirements may outgrow what SAM offers today.

Enterprise ERP integration

SAM focuses on the maintenance and airworthiness side of operations. If your organisation needs native integration with SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems, you will need to look elsewhere or build a custom bridge.

No 24/7 technical support

SAM support operates during business hours. If your operation requires around-the-clock technical assistance (for example, if you run shifts across multiple time zones), a platform with a global support organisation may be a better fit.
